ABEC to resume regular working hours in November

St. John’s Antigua: Tuesday 22nd October 2024: The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) will return to its regular hours of operations effective November 4 2024.

The Voter’s Expired Card Replacement Programme, which began on August 12th 2024, was launched to provide individuals with expired Voter’s ID Cards, the opportunity to replace them swiftly.

To accommodate this, the Commission extended the operating hours of the Registration Units and Headquarters by two hours and an hour and a half respectively. This extension aimed to offer the public more flexibility in starting the replacement process.

Despite increased efforts in public education and outreach, current trends indicate that the extended hours have not resulted in a significant increase in participation. Consequently, ABEC has decided to return to its regular operating hours, effective Monday 4th November 2024. The Registration Units will close at 4:00 pm and the Headquarters at 4:30 pm. This decision also takes into account the additional costs associated with overtime for staff.

ABEC appreciates the cooperation and support of all its stakeholders throughout this period and look forward to continuing to serve the public extensively.
