The Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA) has expressed condolences to athlete Dahlia Barnes and her family following the passing of her father, George “Charlie” Barnes.
In a statement, the ABAA described Mr Barnes as not only a supportive parent but also a committed sponsor of athletics in Antigua and Barbuda. The association noted that he was “always willing to assist when called upon,” highlighting his contribution to both the sporting community and the ABAA itself.
Mr Barnes was a respected businessman and philanthropist, remembered for his generosity and readiness to support local initiatives.
The ABAA said its thoughts and prayers were with the Barnes family at this difficult time, adding that it hoped they would find comfort in the support of loved ones and strength in their memories of him.
