On Sunday, December 28, 2025, the Catholic Diocese of St. John’s-Basseterre proudly celebrated the meaningful conclusion of the Jubilee Year 2025, perfectly timed with the Feast of the Holy Family. This marked a significant spiritual milestone, bringing a sense of renewal and reflection that touched every corner of our islands.
Throughout the past year, our Diocese participated alongside the universal Church in embracing the Jubilee theme of “Pilgrims of Hope.” A key element of this remarkable journey was the focus on reconciliation and the idea of “opening doors”—both physically and spiritually. Our community engaged in special pilgrimages, dedicated moments of Eucharistic Adoration, and renewed their commitment to the Sacrament of Penance.
During the heartfelt closing liturgy, Bishop Robert Llanos shared an inspiring message with clergy, religious, and laity alike. He reminded us that while the formal Jubilee Year has come to a close and the symbolic Holy Doors are now shut, the mission of hope remains ever open. It’s essential for families to embody the essence of the Holy Trinity and to reflect the sacrificial love of God. Bishop Llanos urged us to resist spiritual complacency and to carry the “jubilee spirit” into our everyday lives, workplaces, and homes.
He highlighted the significance of the Feast of the Holy Family as an ideal backdrop for this transition. Bishop Llanos called on families to become the heart of hope and service, embodying the Gospel message in a world that increasingly leans towards secularism. His vision was clear: the blessings and graces received during the Jubilee must now transform into real acts of charity.

As we embark on the journey into 2026, the legacy of the Jubilee Year will continue to guide us. The call to be “Pilgrims of Hope” remains vibrant, challenging each believer to stay rooted in faith and proactive in service. Though this special year of celebration has ended, the spiritual fruits of this time are sure to nourish our community for many years ahead, strengthening the bonds within the Catholic Diocese of St. John’s-Basseterre.
