A chicken meat plant will be established in Antigua and Barbuda

CABINET NOTES: Two Investors representing a firm that exports chicken parts will establish a chicken meat plant in Antigua.

The export of chicken feet is a lucrative business; export to China is contemplated.

The investors will construct a factory building in which hundreds of thousands of broilers will be reared and butchered for local consumption; and, chicken feet, which are not consumed locally in large quantities, will be exported.

The investors already have a market for the chicken feet, and Antigua and Barbuda is a great market for chicken meat since millions of dollars’ worth of chicken meat are imported every year.

The plant will require freezers and chillers that will occupy more than 3,000 square feet of space.

The building is expected to start in 3 months, then another 3 months will be required for the purchase of all the equipment.

The chicks will require several months’ feeding and nurturing before the start of production.

  1. Broilers take 6-7 weeks to mature. Why is it taking several MONTHS of feeding before production?
Hope these investors know what they are doing, Broilers in Antigua tend to be dificult to rear due to the excess heat.
    Give me a job!

  2. Mmmmmm

I know for sure they can’t SABOTAGE this like how the present party like to SABOTAGE GOVERNMENT when they’re not in power.

WAITING TO SEE MORE FOOD PRODUCTION FACILITIES COME ON STREAM.

  3. @ Sikes, I know, I’m still in shock!!!

We better not get too excited though, because Gaston 🥸 might be building some sort of hotel complex for the chickens dem …. 🤣🤣🤣

  4. More than likely just talk. These clowns just never stop with the empty promises. Nothing ever materializes but they keep on hammering away knowing the Labourites will swallow anything. Just like chickens.
Where is the farmers egg box making machine? We were told of its capabilities. Now they’re bringing in foreigners? Has to be a finders fee thing.

  5. What ever happened to the Chinese hydroponic greenhouse project that was promised to produce vast quantities of fresh vegetables?

  6. Can we open an Obeah Factory in Antigua? As we already know, there will be no shortage of customers local and foreign for the products and rituals.
It comes with far less environmental hazards than the production of chicken.

  7. Why can’t local Antiguans be empowered to own any business? Must we be just maids and janitors? The government should be assisting locals with loans to set up the plant. If foreign expertise is needed to get it going, then bring them in for a time. What does Gaston think Antiguans are good for, just to vote for him?

  8. Well said @ Think about It. Gaston Browne has kept many Antiguans in “bondage” to the tourism sector for some time now.

I’ve never followed any politicians advice in regards to business and work practices; I’d be broke as hell by now.

These guys make a ton of money, but will NEVER reveal to the masses how to do the same, but only show them how to earn minimum wages in the hospitality sector.

    Awful set ah people dem.

Those of us with two brain cells will start our own businesses and then pursue have half-a-dozen other passive revenue streams as well.

NOT EASY, BUT EFFECTIVE FOR SURE.

Antiguans weakness in general is that they pay too much time to what these politicians say to them, and then lose way ìn their own pursuits and goals in life.

  9. Who are those so called investors? They do not have names?I am tired of hearing about investors are coming and not one damn thing to show. What has become of that man from Dubai. He got our title deed for lands he paid nothing for at Morris Bay in Old Road.Where is the hotel? A way CALLALOO CAY Garne?
