9-Year-Old Jumarah Jarvis Crowned Work fu um Junior Ambassador

The Working Dreamers Junior Pageant 2025 was nothing short of a celebration of culture, talent, and youthful ambition. Staged at Sun City on Anchorage Road, the event marked the grand finale of a one-month Work fu um Summer Camp, followed by two weeks of intensive pageant training. Families, supporters, and well-wishers turned out in full force to cheer on the young delegates, making the event one of the most successful yet.

The evening was guided with style and energy by Masters of Ceremonies Chaniel Imhoff and Suzetta Hamilton, who kept the crowd engaged and the program flowing seamlessly.

This year’s camp and pageant were guided by the theme “When I Grow Up,” encouraging children to explore their career goals, creativity, and dreams for the future. The program was designed to shape young minds through cultural development, education, pageantry, youth leadership, and talent exploration, with a strong focus on music and vocal training.

The summer camp welcomed a diverse group of participants, including international representation, such as Chinese students, which added to the cultural and literacy diversity of the program. The curriculum was wide-ranging: from swimming lessons, group therapy, and literacy enrichment to career planning, back-to-school preparation, and sessions on sensitive issues like understanding good touch and bad touch.

When pageant night arrived, eight delegates proudly stepped forward, each showcasing their unique talents and dreams. After a spirited competition, 9-year-old Jumarah Jarvis emerged as the winner, capturing the title of official Work fu um Junior Ambassador.

She was joined in the Ambassador Circle, also called the Winning Circle, by:
• First Runner-Up: Shedi-Anne Edwards, 11 years old – appointed Deputy Ambassador
• Second Runner-Up: Khloe Desilver, 8 years old – appointed Assistant Ambassador

Together, this trio will now serve as the youthful face of the Work fu um Initiative, carrying forward its message of empowerment, creativity, and leadership.

Jumarah’s win also comes with an impressive $1,500 prize package, which includes a stipend, professional studio time with Island Trap, a recording deal for three songs, a music video, a photoshoot, and much more to jumpstart her artistic journey.

Reflecting on the success of the camp and pageant, Camp Director and Founder of the Work fu um Initiative, Peetron Thomas, expressed heartfelt gratitude:

“I’m just so grateful for this opportunity to serve the nation and to witness the development of our youth. To see the transition from when the campers first came in to the confidence they are now walking out with is truly inspiring. To see my book become a soca song, then a camp, then a pageant — and now to have an ambassador for the Work fu um Initiative — I’m just so excited. And there’s more to come.

I love what I do, and I must give a big shout-out to my team, to Sun City, to the pageant trainers, the judges, and everyone who made this progress possible. None of this would have been possible without my very strong team, and I’m really grateful for the support given. I look forward to nothing but great success in the near future.”

With a winning blend of cultural education, talent development, and leadership training, the Work fu um Summer Camp and Junior Pageant have left a lasting mark on this year’s participants — and with ambassadors now in place, the initiative is set to reach even greater heights.
