A burglary at the St. Joseph Police Station’s armoury, situated west of the island, resulted in the theft of a significant arsenal.

The stolen items included nine firearms: three M6 rifles, three 7.5 rifles, one shotgun, and two pistols, along with various-caliber ammunition.

This incident has caused widespread outrage and concern among citizens and government officials.

The security minister expressed deep dismay, emphasizing the gravity of the situation at a press conference on December 7.

He declared the incident a serious national issue, promising swift and decisive government action.

In response to the urgency and severity of the matter, independent investigators from CARICOM IMPACS will conduct an impartial inquiry into the incident. T

he head of CID was initially assigned to investigate, but due to the urgency and seriousness of the matter, independent investigators were requested.
