A 69-year-old woman passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s (QEH) Accident & Emergency Department on Friday, while an 81-year-old Barbadian woman succumbed to the illness at the Blackman and Gollop Isolation Facility yesterday. They both were unvaccinated.
The total number of deaths from COVID-19 now stands at 155. There were three deaths in August and in September that figure jumped to 27, but October has proven to be the most deadly since the virus was first detected in Barbados in March last year.
Health officials have been warning Barbadians about waiting too late to seek treatment, saying that was one reason for the increasing death rate.

Really sad, has anyone shown this to Harold Lovelll who made the mistake of comparing our figures to theirs. One can say he blighted them. Part of the problem was he never looked at hospitalizations and then compared it to deaths. When you have a situation where more persons are being hospitalized, its not surprising when you see more deaths. In BDS the active covid count is now 6,104. Motley must rethink her stance against mandatory vaccinations
Well said Tenman: This pandemic should have never be a political game. But typically of Harry, his team and blind followers they are playing their usual political trickery with people lives. Sadly, too many have died already and if they changed their discourse more will die. Covid 19 SARS 2 should have been a political issue.
Not have been a political game.
Comparing Covid stats with other countries does not make sense whatsoever. All you need to do is what your own house and try to do the best you can do. At one time we had Zero cases and before you know it, we were way up there. St. Kitts bragged for a while that they didn’t have Covid and didn’t open the country. And look where they are today. Therefore, we need to stop comparing with one another and just do the right thing. Follow the protocols and get the vaccination rate up. We are in for the long haul.
