1. Clearly, he doesn’t have the slightest understanding of what herd immunity is. The concept of herd immunity operates on the principle that an infectious disease cannot spread indefinitely through a population if an infected person is surrounded by a majority of people that cannot be infected. Unfortunately for the prime minister, if you put a person infected with SARS CoV 2 in a room with several vaccinated persons, the vaccinated persons will still get infected and will then spread the disease themselves. Therefore herd immunity doesn’t apply to SARS CoV 2 infection because infection isn’t stopped and no amount of politicizing will make it happen. But the problem doesn’t stop there…the biggest hurdle isn’t even the efficacy of the vaccines… it’s the fact that SARS CoV 2 antibody levels fade in just a few months .. whether you were vaccinated or previously infected. By the time you finish vaccinating the population, the people who were vaccinated first no longer have antibody levels that are protective. There is no getting around that because that’s the limit of our human immune system itself.

   • They know this. If what they are saying was true, there would be no need to quarantine vaccinated people, at least not for the same amount of time. The truth is, a virus spreads by INFECTING people, not by causing hospitalization and death, so when a treatment is more effective at reducing severity instead of infectivity it is almost basically a placebo, compared to other treatments. If hospitalization and death were the main issue (not trivializing them), we would have this thing cornered between the hospital and the funeral home.
