500K for new garbage bins to be placed island-wide

People don’t like to take good care of things. They mash up the bus shed, smash out the glass and keep the garbage bins nasty. Why oh why is the government wasting monies on new garbage bins?

Waist of money indeed. Unless you will protect them from vandalism. Look what they did to the ones that were installed all over the town. Many are broken down. Just like the litter problem I have no idea what to recommend we do.

@sadbuttrue. I agree wholeheartedly. Start arresting and charging litter bugs first before installing anything. They will steal and destroy those bins in short order. The country has no civic pride.

Mark them well, and charge anyone caught with one in their yard.

Hope the 14-day notice is strictly enforced. Some people just ignore warnings otherwise.

Love seeing the government take proactive steps to improve our environment and neighborhoods.

Why should the ministry engage in community learn up? That’s the 7responsibility of the community. Some of us too damn nasty

I’ll come in From The Sidelines and sub you out, as a seasoned veteran.

A…the garage bins can come with a tracking device and number built into it, so that they can be scanned and tracked at the drop of a hat.

B…assign the bins to particular addresses (no commercial uses such as those who run a business from their home).

C…set rules/guidelines for trash and recycling pickup.
Examples…bins are only placed at the Curb in front of your property, not before 6:00pm on the night before the scheduled pickup and MUST be removed by dusk, to the rear of your property where they must be stored and secured.

D…issue serious fines for those who #violate.

You are correct. This is a waste of funds without proper planning, as is the case with those High tech bins placed around the City. This is just political grandeur and postering wrapped up in PPP – Piss Poor Planning.

I look around some place and I wonder how people can live around such nastyness and not feel the least bit upset

Antigua people lub fu dress up but dem nasty nf especially the hoity toity ones you should see some ah dem yard inside de fence

Larger bins allocated to the beaches also. It is horrible to see litter after the weekends especially along our beauitful beaches.

Come on everyone be responsible for taking your litter with.

Drink, Eat and take your garbage with you.

Keep our neighbourhoods clean it’s disgusting to see food boxes cans and bottles just thrown to the wayside.

Household goods take them to Cooks landfill. Arrange to dispose of your waste we do not need to see your old bed, cupboards and all your old wares sitting outside your homes.

We all can do better.
