40-Acre Shell Beach Development Opens Investment Opportunities for Antiguans
The government of Antigua and Barbuda is encouraging local investors to take advantage of opportunities in the planned 40-acre Shell Beach development, which will include boutique hotels, Airbnbs, and commercial spaces.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne said the project is designed to provide Antiguans and Barbudans with a stake in the country’s expanding tourism sector. “This development is being structured so that locals can purchase lots and build Airbnb properties,” he said.
The project is part of broader efforts to attract high-end tourism while ensuring that local businesses and entrepreneurs benefit from the country’s economic growth.
“This is an opportunity for Antiguans and Barbudans to invest in an area that will become a major tourism hub,” Browne added.
Plans for the site include a redesign of the Shell Beach road to improve accessibility and create a pedestrian-friendly environment. The government is also considering measures to expand the beachfront and enhance its appeal.
“We are even prepared to replenish the beach by bringing in additional sand, possibly from Barbuda, to make the coastline more attractive,” Browne said.
The government aims to balance development with environmental sustainability, ensuring that the project enhances the area’s natural beauty while creating economic opportunities.
