Students Detained By Police Following Fight At CHSS

Five Clare Hall Secondary School students, four of them girls, were taken into police custody, following a fight at the school shortly after 11 on Friday morning.

Police say a mop stick and a piece of 2×4-inch board were used in the fight. Law enforcers say the fight started inside the auditorium, before spilling over outside the compound.

It is unclear what caused the dispute among the students, who range in ages from 13 to 15.

There were no serious injuries; investigations continue. (State Media)

  1. Again I want to bet my months salary that no white, Chinese or Syrian child is involved. If none, I wonder why none attend these government schools. Ministry of education, here are two suggestions. One, any fight, lock up the parents. Second, include their behaviour on their school leaving credentials. Entering the work force, they will have to prevent this piece of certification to their prospective employer and they would take it from there. Parents, take a look at what kind of homes these kids are coming from??

  2. Send dem ah SKERRIT
    Send dem to SKERRIT
    So Much causing CHAOTICs
    Internal School Security
Call it Cadets Scout Simmer Drill Anger Na b agenent..

  3. Send them all to Skerrit. Their punishment must also include 5 strokes of the BullBud daily for 1 week. If their parents complain they must be locked up for 6 months.

  4. Children have become pretty aggressive these days and get provoked easily. Students have begun to demand respect, attention and authority from fellow students, which can often result in clash of ego and interests. There is also much jealousy among school kids and it causes up to half of school fights. It can be jealousy regarding looks, intelligence, social status or something else. Whatever the cause, jealousies can quickly cause fights to happen.

    • @Audley, I love love for you to offer the solution. All that you have mentioned is nothing new, they always existed. However kids were able to handle themselves more appropriately otherwise they would have gotten a good whipping from the principal and if they parents find out, they would get another one. But I know you don’t believe in the belt since you said it would make them aggressive. I guess you find that their behaviour is non-aggressive, they just jealous.

  5. Are those children smoking too much dope? The Teachers in Antigua and Barbuda, more specifically that School should be getting Combat Pay. They would leave their homes for a classroom and end up on a Battle Field. Ministry of Education and Parents, you need to do more to save these young people from 1735.

  6. Schools should be allowed to give them the cat whip, give the young people and their parents a clear message, the cat whip or home School their children.

Let the young people and their parents
know that Antigua is not America or Europe. Taking a softly approach does not work with them, they need a firm hand, otherwise their unruly behaviour will be their Compass for later life.
