UWI Seismic Research Centre Reports 4.1 Magnitude Earthquake Near Antigua and Barbuda

The University of the West Indies (UWI) Seismic Research Centre (SRC) has reported an earthquake of magnitude 4.1 that struck early this morning near Antigua and Barbuda.
The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 14 kilometers, with the epicenter located at latitude 17.35N and longitude 62.06W.

Saint John’s, Antigua and Barbuda: 35 km northwest of the epicenter
Brades, Montserrat: 64 km north-northeast
Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis: 75 km east
The quake was detected by automated computer algorithms, which generated this preliminary location. The SRC notes that the information is subject to revision pending further analysis by their experts.
Residents in nearby areas are encouraged to remain cautious, although there have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The Seismic Research Centre will provide updates as more information becomes available.
