SOURCE-POINTE XPRESS30-year-old man sentenced to prison for battery on a woman

Thirty-year-old Grays Farm man – Randy Daniel – has been sentenced to a prison term of seven months and 27 days when he was found guilty of battery on a woman with whom he had a relationship.

Daniel appeared in the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday to answer charges related to beating the woman of Bolans. He was charged with violating Section 22 of the Offences Against the Person Act.

The court heard that Daniel hit her with a folded fist to the left side of her face and eye. He also hit her on her left leg with a perfume bottle.

She reported that she was beaten about her body and in the process sustained broken nails.

The court also accepted evidence submitted by the prosecution that included a Medical Report submitted by the police.

The woman declined an offer to return to the doctor for a follow-up visit on the basis that she was feeling okay. She told the court that she had returned to work after a few days of sick leave.

However, she was forced to wear make up to hide the black and blue marks around her left eye.

The court heard that the woman indicated to Daniel that she no longer wished to continue a relationship with him and that this was what triggered his violent behaviour towards her.

  1. Another woman that wanted nothing to do with a violent man, and wanted to end the relationship forthwith. However, this excuse of a man decided to put his hands on her.

    Which begs the obvious question:

HOW MANY MORE WOMEN ARE LIVING LIKE THIS AT PRESENT?

  2. This is the result of the feeling of entitlement, morphed into possivness as strength; instead of equality in a partnership of holding hands of faith, and hope with care.
A relationship, wether in marriage or, of contemplative convenience thus: is a trust of partnership, to be free from physical abuse or coercion, and must be cherish. It is a purity of faith driven by the coincidence of the physical meeting of attraction; evolved into spiritual contentment-
evoking universal harmony of mind and body entwined. It might become broken by discontent or incompatibility which, envarible lead to a disconnect; which must give sway to tolerance, of the preferences not to continue the pursuit a continuance; and leaving one to satiate the bruised ego with low self esteem of belonging, but for self, for self healing to replace the disappointment with solace without the vanity to be overwhelmed by ingrain thought of possivness: or wait in limbo gallantly for a boomerang-buoyed be faith for another coincidence of happenance, and good luck with charm to replace the lesson learned of: don’t want who doesn’t want you.

It happens a lot!! It happened to me and multiple friends of mine! This woman went to a police officer who went into that field for all the right reasons and cared enough to push this!! Good for him or her!!
First off, I am surprised the courts even found out about anything like this!! YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY??! Because reporting to an officer can stop right there! He may or may not pick the guy up, and lock him up for 2 days, but it is up to the officer who takes the report to press charges!! If he does NOT, it is because he typically does not feel like doing the extra paperwork or necessary court appearances for the charges to be upheld by law and for the courts to even get to do their job in serving justice!!

So, this system is severely broken!! TIME FOR POLICE AND COURT REFORM (FAMILY COURT AND HIGH COURT, THAT MEANS BOTH OF YOU!!) I resent their systematic processes so much, because women like me who look for help, restraining order, justice in form of arrest get very little cooperation because of a broken system and lazy police!! This man I report to in 2021 is a CPL and has been for nearly 30 years, so go figure, he is an older man with 2nd to lowest rank because he refuses to want to go to court! So, this means I have bad luck, because had I gone to another station or police officer after being severely battered, then the outcome may have been like this one! My injuries were many/much worse than in this story (not downgrading her injuries, because this is horrible), because I was severely battered and this man got off scot-free and out there still beating on women because reporting it to the police means nothing if the process stops right there with the officer only writing or typing a statement that a court who can never see said statement because he is too lazy to pursue charges on the man and let the courts serve their purpose. I tried pressing charges and even going through minor offenses and referred to inspectors, assistant superintendent and superintendent even got involved and said, “there was nothing they could do to push the charges” and asking questions to legal counsel and court and they said nothing could be done unless that officer carried that sworn statement down to the courts. He just let an animal go… and yes, he lives here in Freetown or Picadilly area! God sees all… if Antigua will not be his judge, karma and God has and will continue to handle him! As for the lazy policeman who took my statement, how dare you decide for my life, my children, our pain and paranoia, by disregarding it because you are complacent!! Karma will handle what it must!

I am glad to see this 7-year sentence, as it is setting precedence when it comes to convicting and sentencing the next POS to batter a woman!! Go ahead, try your luck… 7 years in a human shit and flea-infested cell doesn’t sound worth it. Get therapy or meds, anything is better than 7 years in a hell hole because you can not respect a woman and honor the law!

And one last thing… this man has had a Default warrant since July 28th for not paying his maintenance for his daughter and multiple times a month I have been to the high court to follow up on his arrest and still, NOTHING!! Dear Mr Bailiff… he’s an animal, a POS, and owes months of maintenance and he’s just kicked back drinking and smoking weed at home, while you let him get away with being a waste of air! While he says, “They ain’t gonna do shit, and neither are you!”

hmmmppp!!…. No justice taaalll here in Antigua. So, this story was a huge shock and awe to me! Glad she got her justice and lock he up!

  4. So sorry to hear of your plight @ Fed up!!

It makes me wonder if this is more widespread in the country than we thought.

My father put his hands on my mother when I was very young, my brothers and sisters could only cover our ears when the beatings started (I can still here her screams to this day). He was an out and out monster – my mum still has the terrible scares on her face to this day.

When he died, the majority of us didn’t attend his funeral.

I VOWED THAT WHEN I BECAME AN ADULT I WOULD BRING UP MY SONS TO BE RESPECTFUL OF THE OPPOSITE SEX.

Today, my two sons treat their partners as equals and the utmost respect come what may.

Stay strong @ Fed up, there are still good Antiguan men out there …

  5. @brixtonian Thank you and you did the right thing to raise them this way! I’m like that with my children as well. I want to be the change I wish to see in the world!
