POLICE PROBING SHOOTING INCIDENT IN VILLA
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda — Thursday, May 1, 2025
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident that occurred in Villa during the early hours of Thursday morning.
Initial reports indicate that a 27-year-old male was shot by an unknown assailant and sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
He was subsequently transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. His injury is reported not to be life-threatening.
Further investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information that could assist in the investigation to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or 462-3914. Information can also be shared anonymously by calling the Crimestoppers Hotline at 800-TIPS (8477).

Woke up to this news and I’m honestly tired of the violence. Praying for his family.

Regardless of whether or not crime is actually down, the fact that a shooting took place does not contradict the statement that crime is down. “Crime is down” doesn’t mean “crime will no longer occur”.
On a previous post, a blogger said, something big will happen. I have always expressed this to the AG and COP. Anytime it gets quiet, ramp up police presence. The simplest of Rule and instruction I gave. And reduction in crimes only matters when it is substantial and in every aspect of crimes, especially in inherently dangerous crimes.
