Mount St. John’s Medical Centre (MSJMC) Oncology Unit was recently gifted a medication refrigerator by the Friends of Mount St. John’s Medical Centre (FoMSJMC).
This donation was valued at just under $10,000.
Many of the medications used by our patients with cancer have specific storage requirements to ensure drug stability and integrity,” said Salma Crump Head of Marketing & Communication at MSJMC.
“Our hospital had been experiencing challenges with our refrigerated storage facilities for oncology – And as we would expect of any friend – FoMSJMC did not hesitate when we asked for their assistance with sourcing a refrigerator. We’re grateful for partners like FoMSJMC that we can depend on when we really need them.”
Said Dwayana Derrick President of FoMSJMC; “This is what we do… Help the hospital. And it gives all of us immense joy to do so. The funds used to purchase the refrigerator were raised from our annual “Tickle Me Pink” Fete. So that’s all of us helping ourselves when the community supports our fundraisers. On May 8th we’ll be hosting a fundraiser concert on the Freewinds (cruise ship). Music will be provided by The Kutting Edge Band and The Freewinds Band. We’re asking the public to support us.”

It’s good to see groups of people supporting the facility. But it’s GOABs job to make sure all equipment that would be needed is bought quickly and with no hesitation. It seems like current administration don’t want to put their hands in their pockets and would rather someone else takes the financial strain?.
Why don’t you donate you TIME and/or money to the facility? All hands on deck. The gov’t alone cannot do everything. Whatever happened to “Each endeavouring, All achieving”? The government must clean up your backyard too?
