Antigua and Barbuda Black Pineapple Awards Set for December 7
Antigua and Barbuda will host the inaugural Black Pineapple Awards on December 7, 2024, celebrating remarkable growth in stayover tourism. Organized by the Ministry of Tourism and the Tourism Authority, the event honors travel professionals from key markets—UK & Europe, USA, Canada, the Caribbean, and Latin America—for their contributions to the destination’s success.
Named after the iconic Antigua Black Pineapple, a symbol of hospitality, the awards recognize exceptional achievements in promoting the twin-islands. Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez highlighted the honorees’ pivotal role in attracting visitors, while Tourism Authority CEO Colin C. James praised their passion and expertise in showcasing Antigua and Barbuda’s charm.
Over 60 of the 100 top travel advisors will attend the black-tie gala at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort. Special awards include the Director’s Award for sales achievements, the CEO’s Award for driving bookings, the Minister’s Award for dedication to the destination, and the Prime Minister’s Global Award for the top revenue earner.
Awardees will also enjoy a curated experience featuring hotel stays, a luxury island tour, swimming with turtles, and visits to attractions like Shirley Heights, part of Antigua and Barbuda’s UNESCO World Heritage site.
