$21 Million Road Construction Initiative Announced for 2025
The government of Antigua and Barbuda has committed $21 million to road construction equipment in 2025, aiming to accelerate community road repairs across the nation.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne, in his New Year’s address, outlined the initiative as part of broader efforts to tackle infrastructure challenges.
“We have resurfaced many roads nationwide, and this additional investment will enhance and accelerate the pace of community road repairs,” Browne said.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the long-standing issues of decaying infrastructure, describing the government’s approach as determined and purposeful.
The initiative forms part of a wider program addressing public infrastructure, including the refurbishment of schools, hospitals, and government buildings, to improve the quality of life for all citizens.
Browne reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to resolving these challenges systematically.

All Saints Road is terrible- for over 20 plus years no one has done anything about it.
The country is in really bad shape when it comes to infrastructure. The Government is just talks and no action. I am tired of this.
Fix it.
Well, in the last 7 years a lot of road have been fixed.. I’m not saying lot of upgrade need to keep going on..But negate that lot of road are being repaired is a dumb comment. Most of this road that are fixed had a lot of accident..I remember news in 2017 when some accident happened in Friar Hills, Airport Road, Factory Road, people jump to blame “Ohh the road is crap, that’s why lot of accident happens” Now those road are flat and smooth and still lot of accident keep going on..Now same people who use to blam road conditions, made silent, or change narrative to..Oh not enough signs, Oh, now enough lights, Ohh, not enough etc…but nobody want to accept that their attitude while driving is the Number one and nothing else to blame.
Also is necessary to point, that the road is being done by Antiguans…SO is the result is bad, then Blame Antiguans.. Accept lot of people even with the resources don’t know how to do things correctly….I see lot of road repairs that workers have everything on place… Materials, Machinery, but still the result is crap…If you pointed that to them. They don’t want to recognize they did it wrong.. They start giving excuses..
Blah! That money will just go to the person who had been given the contract to procure or buy the bitumen oil out of Trinidad that may ostensibly be the hadeeds, so no road will be fixed.
Why is it that when a new road is built or an existing road repaired it doesn’t last very long in a matter of months it is back to the same awful state it was in this is just wasting money. We need proper engineers and some other company besides COW Williams
