2 students taken into police custody following altercation

DAILY OBSERVER/WEB- An incident at Sir Novelle Richards Academy this afternoon has drawn police attention and led to an early dismissal of students, authorities report.

The police have not yet shared any details but unconfirmed reports indicate that a fight broke out between students from Sir Novelle Richards Academy and the Antigua and Barbuda Institute of Continuing Education (ABICE). Reports suggest the altercation may have resulted in at least one person being stabbed.

Some students claim to have heard what sounded like gunshots, though this has not been verified by official sources.

In response to the incident, school officials made the decision to end classes early.

Police were observed at the scene escorting two students into a police vehicle.

The police investigation is ongoing, and authorities are expected to release more information as it becomes available.

  1. That a regular occurrence, with students from that nearby institute. They can get onto the school any which way and fight with those children, whether security or teachers are present or not. Unless and until a child gets killed, only they the police/court will effectively prosecute those prior cases and deal with those from next door, as how they should. Complete the fencing of de dam school .compound

  2. Gaston disturbed the ants nest with his lies. He fabricated this GANG story and the so-called ARREST of the situation with some LYING peace deal to get recognition and this is the result. The schools seem to be having turns at violence while he appears to be the fool and doesn’t know what to do now. Waiting for his next move.

  3. Just another day in our “safe” schools as per MOE. Isn’t obvious that they lied to the public?
    They sat on their derriere for nine weeks, did nothing, had no plans as violence was raging out of control, then declared schools safe and claimed they consulted with ,”stakeholders.”
    This is disturbing, but I did say we can expect more of this. Unfortunately.
