A tragic shooting at Shanty Town near East Bus Station on August 6 left one man dead and several others injured, with two victims still hospitalized at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre.
Malachi Martin, 18, of Liberta, is in critical condition on a ventilator in the ICU, while Wayne Knowles, 29, of Gambles, has been transferred to the surgical ward after suffering an abdominal gunshot wound.
The shooting also claimed the life of Kergus Martin, 43, Malachi’s father, and injured a 17-year-old who has since been discharged.
According to police, a masked gunman opened fire on a group under a tent around 11 pm as Carnival celebrations nearby were ending. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
