$180,000 WORTH OF CANNABIS FOUND HIDDEN INSIDE SOFA

St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda — Friday, May 23, 2025

Law enforcement officers have made another significant drug seizure, this time uncovering a large quantity of cannabis concealed inside a piece of furniture.

On Thursday, May 22, during a joint drug operation at the Deep Water Harbour, Police and Customs officials seized a grey sofa with thirty (30) vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis hidden inside.

The packages weighed thirty (30) pounds and have an estimated street value of $180,000.

The sofa and the controlled substance were transported to Police Headquarters for further processing. Investigations into the matter are continuing.

This latest seizure comes just days after a similar joint operation at the V.C. Bird International Airport Cargo Shed on Tuesday, where officers discovered twenty-three (23) vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis weighing 23 pounds and valued at approximately $138,000.

No arrests have been made in connection with either seizure at this time. Both matters remain under investigation.

The Police and Customs remain committed to combating illegal drug trafficking and strengthening national border security.

Anyone with information that may assist in these investigations is urged to contact the Narcotics Department at 462-5150 or call Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).

  1. Why there never seem to be any consignee for these merchandise unless they are low-level persons? Are we to suppose that these goods are collected and taken to the owners? Something is going on in Canada so why are we not hearing anything? The Minister of Foreign Affairs is very silent.

  2. Really know this is BS all these herb coming in and drugs coming in but yet still the police can’t do a A controlled bust They are covered up obviously this is 2025 and yet still they are doing this crap all covering up it makes no sense investigation into what is called. Do a controlled operation to see who and where is going Police 101

  3. Why these idiotic law men do not wait for someone to pick of these items and then make an arrest, seems quite academic to me and I’m not even smart enough to be in the police force

  4. It can’t be real. They have to know where and who it belongs too. All this every time but yet no arrest never never. It can’t be this hard to find the owner or owners. Police 101, control burst!!!! It’s too easy to see who picks it up, who clears it so yessssss it has to be inside job. Man ohhhh man what the helll

  5. Something is amiss here…like a one sided coin with just a tail and no head. With millions of dollars worth of drugs and no owners, no arrest, confiscated and taken to police headquarters for further investigation. Talking to a friend to other about this strange one sided coin phenomena in Antigua and he said to me…” come on Mr Pelle there is no such thing as a one sided coin, the head is operating in a different capacity now”. THE BIG QUESTION IS WHO IS THE HEAD?

  6. CHUPS!!!! Where are the arrests, just prosections and sentencing of pedophiles and murderers? I will stand and applause each time that happens.

  7. What’s with the premature ejaculations? How does seizing the items before the person comes to clear them make any sense to police or law enforcement?

  8. Old granny days have no merit in modern times. I remember grandma having money in brazier and in pillow. Lol. Imagine sitting on someone’s sofa and when you rise your backside smells like hern. What a silly way to hide drugs.
