16-year-old Charged With Murder
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, Thursday, 31 July 2025
A 16-year-old of Hatton has been arrested and charged with the murder of 17-year-old Vonde Bowers.
The alleged incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, at Grays Farm.
Following the incident, the teen was taken into police custody, and is now being charged for the offence. Further investigations into the matter are ongoing.

I can’t help but feeling sorry for these poor kids. Yes he will probably be sentenced to 3 years at trial given his age at the time of the offense. But the issues facing these kids are far more serious and complex than we think. Their brains are still young and developing and it is sad that they have become entrenched in a system that is potentially a one way street. Jailing them, however short or long and especially within the walls of 1735, only make them hardened criminals and potentially repeat offenders. If we don’t begin to focus on early prevention and helping our youths and steering them away from a life of crime and violence, we would be witnessing much more of this.
I do not agree with the 3 year time limit they’re giving these boys. They’re old enough to know right from wrong and yet they always choose to do the wrong. If they’re man enough to do the crime, they should be man enough to do the time
