$12.5K Fine Imposed on 24-Year-Old for Illegal Rifle and Revolver Possession

A 24-year-old man, Keal Christmas of Clark’s Hill, has been fined $12,500 for the unlawful possession of a rifle and a revolver.

On September 25, patrolling officers stopped Christmas around 8 pm while he was driving on Road Armstrong with his headlights off.

He was driving a Toyota Vitz from west to east when law enforcement officers signaled him to stop.

During a search, officers discovered an RG .32 revolver and a rifle in his possession.

Despite Christmas’ claims of innocence, he was fined $6,500 for the revolver and $6,000 for the rifle, with a deadline to pay by the end of November.

Failure to do so may result in concurrent prison sentences of 10 months for the revolver and eight months for the rifle.

  1. LOL! With the surge in murder in Antigua only up to 10 months for a gun? If found with multiple it would still be up to 10 months because the sentence would be served concurrently? Before it gets to this a $12.5K fine is with over a month dealine is given.

WOW! Now I see why so many young people have guns. This young one just happened to be dumb enough to be driving at nights without his headlights or he would have never been caught probably.

    • Bilbo, I do agree with you on this. But the court may have given those fines based on the law. We really need to have a review of the laws and make these fines much higher. If he had to pay 100,000.00 per gun, he would have taught twice.
