Prime Minister Gaston Browne says work will soon begin on a major $100 million national road improvement project, with the first $10 million drawdown expected to fund upgrades starting with All Saints Road.

Speaking on the Browne and Browne Show on Pointe FM, Browne said the government has completed most of the preparatory work required by the lending institution and is now awaiting final clearance to access the funds.

“The bank has requested some documentation on All Saints Road to justify the first drawdown… which will be $10 million,” Browne said. “Once that’s completed, we’ll move quickly to begin the work.”

The prime minister said the project represents a major phase in the government’s broader national infrastructure agenda, which includes extensive road resurfacing, bridge and culvert repairs, and improved drainage systems across the island.

He said the government remains committed to maintaining the momentum of its public works programme, crediting local contractors, engineers, and road crews for their contribution to the island-wide effort.

“This is about improving access, safety, and overall quality of life for our people,” Browne said. “We’re ensuring that communities that have been neglected for years will finally see lasting improvements.”

The upcoming works on All Saints Road will follow recent upgrades along major routes, including Valley Road North, Anchorage Road, and the Sir Sydney Walling Highway, which have been part of the Ministry of Works’ ongoing national road rehabilitation programme.

Browne said the new financing will help sustain those gains and expand the reach of road development to more rural and residential areas.

“Our goal is to make sure that every community benefits from reliable, well-built roads,” he said. “It’s about continuing the progress we’ve already made and ensuring that development reaches everyone.”

  1. If this country had an Opposition Party, they would have applied to the court for an injunction to stop this project and waste of tax payers money until Public Works presents a comprehensive work plan that is accountable. And until Public Works imports and employs qualified and experienced road engineers. It is obvious that none exist. And the plan must include first fixing all the detour roads and ensuring that no one is allowed to park on those narrow detour road. There must also be accountability and regular reporting in Parliament on how the money is being spent.

  2. @Davis. Perfectly said.

Another thing I noticed, is that they don’t even have the money as yet..so the work projects that were taking place were just projects that were already funded in the budget?

So why he came for more money? That’s says his previous budget was grossly misrepresented and a fraud.

Some serious auditing needs to be done with this government, for real..too many unknowns.

😂. One thing I know, it’s that a liar will always tell another lie to cover up a lie.
This crook needs to go, seriously.
