All systems are on the ready at the VC Bird International Airport for what will be an important weekend for arrivals and ultimately Antigua and Barbudaโ€™s cruise industry.

This Saturday afternoon, the airport will welcome three Virgin Atlantic charter flights with passengers destined to begin their Caribbean cruise excursions from the Heritage Quay in St. Johnโ€™s.

The entire operation qualifies Antigua and Barbuda as a Homeport for cruise vessels and the airportโ€™s role is pivotal in ensuring that passengers and their luggage are moved seamlessly from their aircraft unto busses that will transport them from the tarmac to the awaiting Carnival Cruise Line vessel.

The arriving cruise passengers will be bussed to the airport for the awaiting charter flights back to the United Kingdom.

A dedicated line has been created for the cruise travelers that will allow them to move seamlessly through airport processes and into the departure lounge from where they will board their flight.

The turn-around operation will once again take place on the 11th and 25th of February and on the 11th of March.

The Airport Authority wishes to commend our staff and stakeholders involved for their support in devising the necessary logistical arrangements so far and joins with them in looking forward to another historic moment for Antigua and our beloved VC Bird International.

  1. Big up to the agencies that have successfully brought this economic driver to the shores of Antigua and Barbuda. Hopefully the monetary resources that are generated from this endeavor will trickle down to the benefit of the people and not the politically connected.

Kudos to the visionary forward thinking that has seen a long sort after investment in the air and seaports that will bring a tremendous amount of revenue.

Prude management and maintenance of these facilities will be needed to see this industry grow. Let the technicians do what they are trained to do.

Congratulations to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda for accomplishing this momentous achievement!!!

    • Shhh them quiet… only rumors they comment on… Antigua and Barbuda ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฌ โ™ฅ โค is a beautiful places and for us to be so small and still hold our own says alot about us. When all this NEGATIVE talks about our country… and wishing that something happens to this country…WHY… election done UPP… N ABLP…. LICK ALL U WOUNDS N MOVE ON…. focus on how WE as a country can become better…UPP u all have 6 seats plus 2 that will roll with u… if the bill make sense then come on… think of country… not party… or hate… same with ablp… I’m sure that some UPP members that was elected to parliament will make good request and we need to look at everything for country… not party…. IF THINGS GO BAD FOR THIS COUNTRY IS NOT THE POLITICIANS THAT WILL SUFFER… US HARD WORKING PEOPLE THAT WILL BE AFFECTED!!!

  3. Now is the time that jobs vacancies should be put out so that there are opportunities for EVERYONE, whether it be at the airport, ports or elsewhere. The more jobs are filled, the more households will be provided for cause if we have 3 working persons in a house, it’s better than 2…and the more taxes are paid back into the economy. Everyone should be given an opportunity at this point.
