Sunwing airline, part of vacation conglomerate Sunwing Travel Group, has announced the introduction of a new direct weekly service from Toronto to Antigua, starting November 10, 2017 to October 26, 2018.

President of Tour Operations, Andrew Dawson, welcomed the news adding, “The beautiful island of Antigua is a welcome addition to our wide range of sun destinations.  As the #1 to the sun, we are committed to providing our customers with affordable vacation packages that include convenient flight services from their local airport.

“We are pleased with the wide range of resorts that we have partnered with on the island and feel that we have something to suit vacationers of all tastes and budgets.”

Sunwing Travel Group, a privately owned travel company headquartered in Toronto, operates an airline, tour operators, and manages resorts. This business model allows it to fly its own guests to its own hotels.

In July, it was announced that Sunwing would assume management of the government-owned Jolly Beach Resort, rebranding it Starfish Jolly Beach Resort.

“The first hotel from the popular chain to open outside of Cuba, this fun-loving Antiguan resort promises to offer a packed program of land and water sports together with a complimentary kids club,” a pres statement from Sunwing read.

The travel company also appears to have entered into a partnership with the Rob Barrett-operated Elite Island Resorts, as its flight announcement also promoted stays at Elite-owned Verandah, Pineapple Beach Club and St James Club resorts.

“We are pleased to launch this transformational travel partnership. With direct Sunwing service from Toronto and Montreal to Antigua, Canadians finally have an exciting new option for their perfect winter getaway”, said Colin Skerritt, Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Director-Canada.
