The Antigua Barbuda Students Association in Jamaica stole the spotlight as activities commenced to celebrate the University of the West Indies 70th anniversary.

The number of students studying at the Mona Campus at UWI has been steadily growing over the years.

That growth was evident based on the number of students participating in the homecoming parade on Thursday.

At that event, the Antigua and Barbuda flag was most prominent.

Thanks to the association those attending homecoming activities also got a taste of Antigua history, music, culture and cuisine.

One Jamaican man had high praises for Antigua’s famous Seasoned Rice dish.

“The season that I had from Antigua, trust me, it was the bomb. I never had anything like that for quite a while and it is commendable,” he said.

Apart from homecoming, the ABSA organizes activities throughout the year which helps showcase the twin island state and brings students together.

Approximately 50 Antigua and Barbuda students are pursuing various degrees in Jamaica.

  1. This would have been more newsworthy if the actual results were posted from the Homecoming celebrations. Where did Antigua place in the Ring Road parade and where did they place amongst the islands with thier booth, cuisine, etc?
